News Update: Lil Wayne NOT DEAD… The story continues… CONNECTED Exclusive from MTV!

Lil Wayne Gets Hospital Visits From Drake And Birdman

After reports of Lil Wayne’s ‘critical condition,’ Drake, Birdman and NBA star Chris Paul all pay the rapper a visit.

It’s been a rough week for Lil Wayne, but after six days in the hospitalWeezy is finally headed home on Monday (March 18).

The Young Money rap star was admitted into Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles after he suffered a seizure on Tuesday, but today YM president and Wayne’s close friend Mack Maine broke the good news on Twitter. “Thanks to Cedar Sinai for everything!!! @LilTunechi has been officially been released and is headed home….God is great,” he wrote capping his tweet of with an emoticon of a pair of hands in the prayer position.

“God Bless.my son just release frm hospital.thanks 4 all tha luv.YMCMB.Richgang,” Birdman then added.

Mack traveled to New York today and even hit Brooklyn Bowl with his “Celebrate” collaborator Talib Kweli, but has done well in giving fans updates on Wayne’s condition over the past few days. On Friday when it was reported by TMZ that the global rap icon was in a medical coma and being prepared for his last rites, Mack and Cash Money CEO Birdman combated the false reports via Twitter.

Wayne Explains His Unique Style, Reacts To Critics

With so many questions surrounding Wayne’s health Birdman made a call into Hot 97′s “Angie Martinez Show” earlier today and clarified that on Tuesday his star rapper only suffered from one seizure and not the multiple attacks that had been previously reported. He also confirmed that Weezy was never discharged last week, and had remained in the Cedars-Sinai for six days straight, though it had been reported by TMZ that he was released on Wednesday, and then at some point readmitted.

There were also reports that the “No Worries” MC had his stomach pumped three times because doctors found large amounts of codeine in his system. Birdman wasn’t asked if Wayne had his stomach pumped, therefore he didn’t speak on it, but he did say with great confidence that Wayne’s seizures had nothing to do with any drug abuse. “To me, it’s just his work ethic. It’s just how he put in and what he believe in and how hard he work, how much dedication he gives to music and his fans and what he tryin’ to accomplish in life. It had nothing to do with drugs,” he said over the phone. “He just needs to get some rest, relax, take it one day at a time.”

The support and well-wishes continue to pour in for Lil Wayne after the rap star was rushed into the hospital and reported to be in ”critical condition” on Friday evening. On Saturday (March 16) Cash Money CEO and Wayne’s father figure Birdman paid him a visit according to an online report.

Birdman was seen outside of Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, with his bodyguard beside a black Cadillac Escalade SUV, as evidenced in a picture that was posted on TMZ. The music mogul wasn’t the only celeberity to visit Wayne, last night Drake and NBA star Chris Paul were both separately photographed leaving the hospital as well.

Update: Lil Wayne In Critical Condition

Initially it was reported that Wayne was in critical condition after suffering from seizures and had to have his stomach pumped because doctors found high amounts of codeine in his system. It was even reported that the rapper was being “being prepared for his last rites.”

The severity of Wayne’s condition has been refuted by multiple members of his YMCMB camp. Young Money president Mack Maine blasted TMZ for figuratively trying to “kill a man before his time” and the rapper’s reps told MTV News that “Lil Wayne is recovering.”

There was even a tweet sent out from Wayne’s verified account which read: “I’m good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love.”

After the news broke on Friday, rappers T.I. and Snoop Dogg and even Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas all took to Twitter to send their love. Today, fellow New Orleans MC Jay Electronica joined in and was joyed that Wayne appears to be doing better than initially reported. “@LilTunechi glad you’re well man. don’t us like that again. God ain’t finish w you yet. sincerely, another uptown n—a,” he wrote.

MTV News will continue to report on this story as it develops.
